Dafen Oil Painting Village is the world’s largest oil painting reproducting center and is one of China’s leading suppliers of high quality oil painting copies. You will find galleries of originals arworks of all sizes, but the specialty here is really the impressionism of famous photographs and oil paintings. Piles and piles of paintings are on stand-by as you enter the shop fronts who specialise in different styles. A common sight also are the talented artists themselves effortlesly going about their imitation of Monet’s Water Lilies for the 45869th time. The economic might of this painting village is not to be underestimated, with the export of reproduction oil paintings taking up to 90% of total business transactions.

The village is truly a surreal xperience and a central cultural hub in its own right. Sprinkled throughout are small boutique cafés dressed down with to industrial taste for those taking a break from browsing…but most likely there will be hanging artworks for sale in the café too. You can also buy other art goods such as sculptures, decorative furniture in alternate styles, and even framing services for your own photographs and paintings. Dafen Village is a great place to go if you want to give a personal gift to someone special! Take a photo there to any of the many talented artists, request for any size or style and they can have it back to you in top-notch quality, frames and all! OR you can even take a photo portrait there and they can sculpt you a standing bust! Just wonderful.

How to get there:

1) Take Longgang Subway Line (the blue line) to Dafen Metro Station,

2) Take the A1 exit

3) Walk straight once exiting for 5-10 minutes until you see Wal-Mart

4) From here you will find the colorful Dafen Village (it can’t be missed, you see people milling around, gravitating towards the main gate)
