In the evening of 18 December 2019, to celebrate the eighth anniversary of Lang Lang Music World, the Masterclass of Lang Lang was held in the Grand Ballroom of Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen. Some 600 piano teachers, students, their families and hotel clients sat through the event.

Eight students from Lang Lang Music World played “Beethoven: The Seventh Piano Sonata”, “Rachmaninoff: Prelude to G Minor”, “Du Mingxin: Water Grass Dance” and other classic pieces. After that, Maestro Lang Lang asked students to go to the stage one by one to make a detailed review and demonstration. IF Lang Lang were not a pianist, he could be a comedian. Children in the audience broke out in hearty laughter from time to time as the world-renowned pianist used vivid language, exaggerated tones, hand gestures and body movements to get his point across to the students on stage during the open master class.

Followed by Mr. Torsten Dressler, general manager of Kempinski Shenzhen, gave a lovely performance of the Christmas carol “Jingle Bells” at the event. A classical music fan who took piano lessons for 10 years, Mr. Dressler and Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen have always been supportive of music students.

Into the coming year, the hotel will continue its Kempinski Concertini project — a series of mini concerts in the lobby that first started in May to provide a platform and opportunity for these young artists to show their talents in front of a public audience. Lang Lang Music World will also participate in the project. Besides the exciting lucky draw with a special prize of Steinway piano, value of 60,000 RMB. The event was a treat for music students and fans that was both entertaining and rewarding, as they took in the revelation of how good music must be expressive and touch hearts. All guests went home with an appreciation gift of a box of homemade Christmas cookies and a Christmas train as an appreciation gift.
