OCT Culture & Tourism Festival kicks off

The Overseas Chinese Town Group (OCT) has kicked off the 2020 Culture and Tourism Festival which is running until October in more than 60 Chinese cities, townships and villages. Various events are being held at tourism resorts, scenic spots, theme parks and hotels operated by the OCT Group and several discount options are also available through the end of the year.

Medical workers are free to enter the scenic spots and theme parks operated by the OCT Group around the country from now until Dec. 31. Between Aug. 19 and 25, they can bring two immediate family members free of charge into those scenic spots and theme parks.

The OCT Group has also released several travel pass cards with various discounts to be used in different cities or provinces. They can be purchased on the “花橙旅游” miniapp on the WeChat.

The Shenzhen travel pass card is 299 yuan and a cardholder can enter for free one time in each of three of the six Shenzhen places: Window of the World, Happy Valley, OCT Harbor Aquarium, OCT East, Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages and Guangming Farm Park.

Its national travel pass card, which was 4,665 yuan in the past, is now only 399 yuan. The national travel pass cardholders can enter for free one time in each of the 40-plus scenic spots and theme parks operated by the OCT Group around the country, such as the Happy Valley theme parks in many cities, Dinosaur Valley in Yunnan, Jianmen Pass in Sichuan and Luhuitou (Deer Turn-Around) Park in Hainan.

Additionally, special events based on local history, nature and folk cultures will be held at scenic spots and villages, such as the farming festival at Gankeng Hakka Town in Shenzhen, the hot spring festival at Taizhou OCT in Jiangsu, the cycling competition at Qingdao OCT in Shandong, the international circus carnival at Xiangyang OCT in Hubei, the water dragon dance festival at Luodai Ancient Town and a camping event at Huanglongxi in Sichuan, a hiking and photography festival at Laojun Mountain in Yunnan, and a running event and a water carnival at Yunnan OCT.

Foodies should not miss the food festival at Shunde OCT in Guangdong, the international beer festival at Window of the World in Shenzhen and a Shanhaiguan-style hotpot event at the Shanhaiguan scenic spot in Hebei Province.
