Join the 7th International Cultural Industries Fair or ICIF to be held from May 13 to 16, 2011 (a Monday to Friday) at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in the city of Shenzhen, province of Guangdong, China.

The ICIF has been held annually since May 2004 through joined efforts of various agencies in China. This year, it is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.

Additional sponsors include the Shenzhen Press Group, the Shenzhen Media Group, the Shenzhen Circulation Group Company Limited, and the Shenzhen International Cultural Industrial Fair Company Limited.

Member of the Politburo Standing Committee Li Changchun had introduced a series of projects for the development of China’s culture, tourism, and trade in relation to globalization. This had coincided with the ICIF’s own mission to establish internationalization of China’s products and services. Thus, Changchun’s projects included the ICIF among its list aimed to be accomplished from 2010 to 2020.

Brief History of the International Cultural Industries Fair

The first ever International Cultural Industries Fair of China was held on May of 2004. Exhibits of arts, culture, commerce, television, radio, media, and others were held in a total of nine halls. Two of which were main areas and seven are additional function halls. Primary halls include a comprehensive exhibit of everything in general and the China Cultural Industries Trade Hall. Seven other halls featured halls for Digital Television and Animation, Gymnastic Industries, Creative Design, Arts and Crafts, Literature, Painting, and Calligraphy, and two Press and Publication halls. The first Press and Publication hall offered an exhibit of all things new such as new media concepts, new technologies and equipment, and new advertising materials. The second room was for all other media products such as videos and publications.

A local company, the China Translation and Publishing Corporation has been assigned translation and interpretation when needed since the third ICIF of May 2007.

During the most recent exhibition on May of 2010, approximately 1,600 businesses in China participated. There were also 89 participants from overseas who showcased their products and services. Resource speakers had more than 20 useful topics to talk about during the event.
