Pub Golf was actually our very first event as EAT Shenzhen in 2021. Back then, we managed to get a humble number of you out in your best-golfing attire drinking beers and downing shots in Futian at Craft Head, Drip Lab (RIP), Juice Baby, Brass House, Keg Room (RIP), La Lupita, BREW & Favela, and I wish I could say it was an incredible day, but frankly, I can’t really remember…
18-ish months and a WeChat account with a few thousand followers later, we reckon we can top that (golf pun #1), especially after our Shenzhen Beer Line antics of last month. But, for those of you unfamiliar with the concept, or in need of a catch-up, here’s what Pub Golf is:
Pub Golf is fairly similar to real golf in concept, but instead of hitting a ball into a hole, you putt (golf pun #2) alcoholic drinks in your stomach. In most cases, you visit 9 different bars (or 18 if you wanna do a full course… maybe next time), all within a short walk of the last, with each bar/hole having a set drink, and par.
For example, we’ll be starting at Baia Burger Concept, and to get things going the par will be 1, meaning that you’ll have to down the drink in one to get the lowest possible score. Any more sips than 1, will add strokes/points to your score, and as we all know in golf, the lowest score wins.
However, with there hopefully being a small army of pub golfers taking part on the day, it will be impossible for us to keep track of valid scores for everyone, so the group will be split into colour-coded teams for the official game, with captains being nominated to compete at each hole to register scores for their team. But everyone on the day will receive a scorecard so that they can play amongst themselves, and compete with their friends! And with all that said, let’s check out our 9-hole course…

For the day, we’ve asked all of the venues to provide either a free welcome drink, a deal to the value of 50% OFF (e.g buy one get one), or a 25RMB drink option. So essentially, with your ticket fee you’re gaining entry onto the pub golf course, where you’ll not need to pay more than 25RMB for a beer all day, and you’ve got 6 free drinks to redeem!
Rogue golfers can join on the day, but they won’t get any of the drink/food deals and will need to pay full prices at each hole. Though for context, your ticket gets you 300RMB worth of drinks deals, so it’s well worth signing up.
