An RMB 6 billion invested clone village the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hallstatt from Austria by a Chinese real estate developer recently opened its doors to visitors in Huizhou, Guangdong Province. It is so far the most ambitious “product” in Chinese reproduction industry.
Some Chinese visitors thought that it looks very European on the outside but the inside does not. Hallstatts Mayor Alexander Scheutz came to opening of the copied village and made no comment on what he thought of the clone.
