McDonald’s has rolled out its “Member’s Day Menu”, a new initiative that brings in wider groups of diners to the popular fast-food chain. One Monday per month, McDonalds’s members will have exclusive access to a limited-edition creative new menu item. The item is only available for the day, until stocks last.

The Member’s Day Menu for January features a creative concoction called the Spicy Sundae. Inspired by China’s traditional chili sauce, it creates a unique sensation when combined with the refreshing chill of classic vanilla soft-serve. McDonald’s Members largely comprise Gen-Z consumers, and the Member’s Day Menu has been specially designed with them in mind. With their high drive for new experiences that reflect the local culture, the Spicy Sundae is certainly set to intrigue lucky McDonald’s Members in China.

McDonald’s has a long history of incorporating local Chinese flavors to its classic menu. From specialty items, like the Sichuan Double Chicken Burger, to local favorites that have become mainstays, like the Sweet Taro Pie or Chicken Congee, it has proven that it understands how to apply the McDonald’s format in China to best satisfy local preferences. And now with the Member’s Day Menu, its continuous motivation is guaranteed to keep Chinese customers intrigued while returning for the proven classics.
