With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, Ms. Yang understands well how to run a hotel. She set about her hospitality career with Jin Jiang Hotels and has held management positions in international hotel groups in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In 2018, Ms. Yang was invited to rejoin Marriott International and continue her career with Courtyard by Marriott Shenzhen Northwest.

Having worked specifically in the F&B industry for 15 years, Ms. Yang offers genuine insight into how the industry works and understands the sort of decisions that need to be made to make a bar or restaurant successful. Now, she has extended that same experience and success to hotel operations.

When she first joined Marriott International 10 years ago, Ms. Yang set herself a clear philosophy; to offer quality service and to do so consistently. She would follow this philosophy no matter what department she was working in and no matter where the hotel she was working at was located.

It is a philosophy that has served her well in the hospitality industry in China and it is an industry that has changed a lot in a short period of time. Ms. Yang gave her opinion on the current transformations, challenges, and opportunities in the Chinese hospitality industry.

“China’s hospitality industry has developed rapidly in the past few years, with a number of international hotels being introduced into the local market, while the local hotels have also shown substantial growth. The major challenge right now is the shortage of well-trained hospitality talents. With the phenomenal industry growth, we must provide quality training to our staff to discover talented employees and to explore their potential.”
