Continuing the Langham brand commitment to environmental protection, The Langham, Shenzhen has been a constant advocate and supporter of environmental efforts. Since opening in 2012, The Langham, Shenzhen has been an active Earth Hour participant. This year, with the theme of “Living with Nature” for the China region, The Langham, Shenzhen is urging everyone to go beyond “60 minutes” and take actions to protect our environment. On 30 March, the hotel invited its guests to take part in a “Pink Cycling and Lightening” activity and encouraged everyone to turn off or dim the lights in their rooms in response to “Earth Hour”.
From 8:30-9:30 pm on 30 March, The Langham, Shenzhen turned off the exterior lights and dimmed the lights at the lobby and other public areas. The hotel also urged its guests to participate in this meaningful environmental activity by turning off or dimming the lights in their rooms as well. During this period, two special Langham pink bicycles were installed at the entrance of the hotel lobby where guests were invited to pedal and light up the “60+” sign at the side. In addition to the activity, The Langham, Shenzhen also offered special green dining options for its guests. In order to encourage hotel staff to contribute to the sustainable development of green lifestyles and concepts, The Langham, Shenzhen will be organising 10-km Green Cycling, Vertical Marathon and Plastic-Free Challenge during Earth Month, which runs from 30 March to 22 April. At the same time, the Staff Canteen will be joining forces with Green Monday to provide vegetarian lunch and afternoon tea every Monday.
