TESTS on Metro Line 14’s operations, as well as all of its stations’ facilities, will start today after an electricity-loaded test was successfully conducted Saturday.

The test showed the trip from Gangxia North Station to Shatian Station took about 52 minutes. The trains were tested on low speed of under 20 kilometers per hour, medium speed of under 40 kilometers per hour and high speed of between 60 and 120 kilometers per hour. The maximum speed was 120 kilometers per hour.

During the test, the operator adopted full automation mode in the section between Pingshanwei and Shatian stations. Under this mode, the trains run stable and their operation indexes meet requirements for autonomous driving.

Metro Line 14 is a fully automated line that runs through Pingshan, Longgang, Luohu and Futian districts. It will be the first Metro line in Pingshan District.

The 50-kilometer line starts from Gangxia North Station in Futian and ends in Shatian Station in Pingshan. It has 18 stations and will be equipped with the GoA4 transport system, the highest standard of driverless train operation system in the world.

Driverless technologies were first used on Metro Line 20, a rapid transit line connecting Terminal 4 of Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport with Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center at the end of 2021. They will be expanded to lines 12, 13 and 14 that will be put into operation later this year.
