‘The Phantom of the Opera’

A Chinese version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical “The Phantom of the Opera” will be staged. Popular singers Ayanga, Liu Lingfei, He Liangchen and Ma Jia will play the principal role of the Phantom in separate shows in the highly anticipated performances. It tells the story of a beautiful soprano who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, masked musical genius living in the labyrinth beneath the Paris Opera House.

The three-night Tomorrow Festival will feature gigs by Glamorous Pharmacy, Marisa Anderson, Tatsuya Yoshida + Kentaro Nakao on Friday, bBb bBb, Mamer and Xylouris White on Saturday, and Mekt Dolan Muqam Group and 106: Phew + Dowser N on Sunday.

‘The Nutcracker’

The Harbin Ballet will present “The Nutcracker,” which takes the dream of the little girl Clara as the main line of the story. Because of all the complete and tortuous plots, vivid and loving characters, abundant and peculiar fantasy, skilled and various expressions, “The Nutcracker” opens the door to fairy tales with its supernatural romantic elements and rich fantasies.

Clarinet, violin

China-based clarinet player Vasko Dukovski will collaborate with Chinese pianist Wang Shunyin to present a night of Hollywood movie scores Friday. Young Chinese violinist Yuan Chen’er will play a night of Chinese folk songs Saturday with pianist Katia Jurova accompanying her.

Shanghai Conservatory of Music associate professor Chen Moye will play piano pieces by Mozart, Grieg and Brahms on Saturday, and Hong Kong pianist Choi Sown Le will give a piano recital Sunday, playing Beethoven’s Op. 7, 53 and 57 piano sonatas.
