On 13 May 2018, the founding Head of Merchiston International School, Mr Chris Lynn, was delighted to welcome to the Shenzhen campus the Right Honourable Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh Frank Ross, City of Edinburgh Councillor Kate Campbell, Mr Martin McDermott, First Secretary Scottish Affairs, Dr Jiangtao Ma General Manager Edinburgh-Shenzhen Creative Exchange and Mr Simon Shen, General Manager of Scottish Development International, as well as representatives of the Foreign Affairs Office.

I bet the students can’t wait to come here to take advantage of exchange opportunities. It is fantastic for Edinburgh that you are the first school in Scotland to set up an overseas campus and I very much look forward to coming back to Shenzhen later this year to see the school running”.
