Tourist Attractions in Shenzhen’s Futian District

Now Shenzhen   |   August 24, 2021

The Futian District is one of Shenzhen’s 7 districts. It is mostly a residential district but Futian offers several scenic attractions and some great shopping too.

Let’s take a look at a few of the tourist attractions that Futian has to offer.

Citizen’s Center

The modern “Citizen’s Center” has amazing architecture and features a roof in the shape of a bird. Right next to the Center (on the east side) you can find the equally beautiful Shenzhen Library and Shenzhen Concert Hall. Across the plaza from the Library is a huge bookstore where you can purchase books printed in English. The store is so big it has a few different restaurants so it makes a good place to while away rainy days or for those on a low budget.

To the North of the bookstore you can find a park with a statue of Deng Xiaoping (1904-1197). He was the leader of the Communist Party who led China towards a market economy. From the park you can also take a great photograph of the Citizen’s Center.

Travelers report the best time to visit the area is 13: 00 to grab a meal in the bookstore. The best time to take a photograph of the Center is in the evening when the lights illuminate the amazing architecture.

Getting There:

By Metro: Take the metro to Shao Nian Gong Station (Children’s Palace) and take exit C or D.
By Bus: Take buses 41, 60, 105, 107, 232, 234, 236, 371 and all buses to Civic Center Stop
or all buses to Children’s Hospital Stop.

Litchi Park (Lizhi Park)

Litchi Park is an oasis of greenery in Futian’s residential district. It features several picturesque pavilions, landscaped gardens and an extensive botanical garden. It is famous for the beloved dark-red Litchi fruit and the park contributes to the ever-growing Litchi industry in China.

The botanical garden has a wide collection with 30 different types of plants including perennials, bulbs, woody plants, foliage plants, ornamental plants, ferns and cocoa plants. One of China’s endangered species – the spiny-tree fern – can also be found here.

The park is a particularly magical place to visit at Chinese New Year when lanterns are lit all around. You can appreciate the clusters of Litchi fruit all year-round and they are best viewed from the Litchi Pavilion. The park also has other areas of natural beauty such as “Areca in Sunset”, “Fragrant Snow in Litchi Park”, “Tranquil Bamboo Forest”, “One Wood Forest”, “Long view on Crane Pavilion”, “Rock shadow under the moon” and the “Friendship garden between China and Japan”.

Getting There:

By Bus: Take buses 10, 13, 24, 30, 105, 202, and 228 to bus-stop “Litchi World”.

Hua Qiang Bei Commercial Area

The Hua Qiang Bei commercial area is a great place to go shopping for electronic consumer items and to take a look at the 72-story SEG Plaza skyscraper.

The area starts from Shenman Boulevard at SEG Plaza, near HuaQiangLu Station and stretches one Kilometer North up to the Pavilion hotel. The area has tree-lined avenues and really wide footpaths which make walking around the district more enjoyable.

The area is famous for having the largest electronic market in all of Asia. There are also a number of department stores and the locally-famous “Women’s World” which makes Hua Qiang Bei a popular destinations for couples. If they don’t mind splitting up for a few hours!
