Luohu is a small area that has played an important part in the history of modern Shenzhen city. It was one of the first areas to be developed when the Chinese government began establishing new economic zones outside of Beijing.

Luohu was also known for being one of the most popular places where Hong Kongers would migrate to after China’s Hand-in-Hand campaign in 1979 during Deng Xiaoping’s regime that opened the Luohu and Lo Wu border even further border.

It was also one of the first Hong Kong-Shenzhen shared areas since the Luoxing Group, shared its land with the Hong Kong Luohu Development Company so that people from Hong Kong could migrate to this area to work and do business.
